What is the PhotoCrank Engine?
PhotoCrank is a lightweight and powerful script that enhances the functionality of images on
your site by allowing your visitors to interact, converse and caption
around your photos. It enables your site's visitors to add rich-media captions (such as graphics,
word bubbles, and text) on the top of the images on your site which encourages your
users to contribute content and to interact. For instance, if Joe adds a caption
on a photo, Kristen, another visitor, will be able to see what Joe created and respond
to him.
The PhotoCrank Engine renders a simple watermark on the bottom of the photos on
your site, as seen in the picture below:

Can I control which images are crankable?
Yes, you can control exactly which images on your site are crankable on either an
image-by-image basis or on the entire site basis. If you want to turn-off
photocrank on a specific image, just click the PhotoCrank menu on the bottom-right
corner of the photo and choose the adminstrative option to allow/not allow cranking
on an image.
What are the default settings for the PhotoCrank Engine?
By default, the PhotoCrank Button is set to show on every image on your site except for GIFs.
You can always modify these setting very easily on the
Engine settings
page.
Why can't I see buttons on any of my photos?
If you are the adminstrator of the PhotoCrank engine, on your site, then you have
the ability to login and control the cranking options on every photo. You
can do this by navigating to the upper-left hand corner of your web page, to an
invisible "HOT ZONE". Simply double-click in this hot zone and the PhotoCrank
menu will appear. Choose the Login option and once you are logged-in, you
will see the PhotoCrank buttons appear on every photo. You can then proceed
to enable/disable select photos for cranking. The changes you make will be
available for everyone who visits your site.
Double-click in the upper-left corner of your site.
The PhotoCrank menu will appear.
Simply login to administer PhotoCrank on your site.
